ABOUT KATE & CO

*waves* it's lovely to meet you

it's been a wild ride

I’m a mum of three babies (they’ll always be my babies) and they are my greatest gift.

This is my crazy crew.

minimal colour palette.
natural tones.
chill vibes.
that's it.

I’ve had a camera in my hand from the moment my first baby arrived in 2004. (well before the iphone!)

I became obsessed with capturing every little detail. Fascinated at how I could play with light and texture and emotion, just by the way I saw what was in front of me.

And the obsession just grew from there.

In the last 20 years I have earned my Masters in Photography with the AIPP, been a finalist in the Telstra Business Awards and won multiple photography categories with the AIPP.

I am currently studying a Diploma of Interior Design at the Interior Design institute, so I can continue to provide the best service and value to “my families” (yes, you become one of “my families” …. not just “a client” …)

But my greatest achievement is growing my three babies into incredible young people, alongside creating a business I am immensely proud of.

I’ve created images for thousands of families over the last 20 years.

One thing I’ve learnt? – fads come and go, but style always remains.

I have a passion for beautiful design – raw, natural, earthy tones and images filled with light.

We see colour first and form second, and because of this I am drawn to creating images drenched in natural tones, earthy textures and beautiful light – I want the eye to be drawn to the people – not the props.

As a student of Interior Design – I’m actively learning everything I can to help families make beautiful design choices when it comes to displaying their family portraiture.

I truly believe it’s not actually a photograph until it’s PRINTED.

Your images deserve to be on display – when children have more photos of themselves in their first year than we did for a whole life time just one generation ago, making the time to slow down and create something meaningful, capture it purposefully and display it with style – this is the true essence of family and child portraiture in 2024 and beyond.

Keep it minimal.
Make it meaningful.
