We love your images. How much does it cost?.
That’s a really hard one to answer without knowing what you’d like to do with your images in terms of display, decor, albums and prints.
Check out the pricing guides in the finished products page and of course the session information and step by step guides.
You can find detailed information about the sessions we offer and how much they are over here.
The best thing to do is send through an enquiry or give us a call to discuss your vision for your images.
Some photographers want me to pay large sums upfront? I’m worried I won’t like the images so don’t want to commit before viewing the photographs. How do you do it?
We charge an initial session fee which covers the session itself. That is all you need to spend before you see your images from your session. If you don’t like your images, you are under absolutely no obligation to purchase any. It’s our job to create amazing images you’ll want to take home.
Of course, please make sure you are happy with our session information, step by step guides and pricing guides in the finished products pages, but you do not need to make any decisions on what to purchase until you view your images.
What’s more we offer a 100% money back guarantee – if you don’t love your images, we’ll refund your money, in full, no questions asked.
I’ve heard photographers are using ‘digital backdrops’ nowadays and it’s hard to tell what is ‘real’. Do you use lots of photoshop? I want my photographs to be ‘real’
We believe the sign of a great photographer is one who makes the image ‘in camera’. We use very little photoshop in my images, preferring to use minimal props – focusing on the little ones and their connection with the people who love them. My client’s come to me because they want timeless, simple and elegant.
Of course, if your little person has a cut or scrape, we.re more than happy to heal them up with the use of photoshop, but we will not digitally manipulate birth marks or similar and your baby/child will not look like they are made of plastic because of the over-use of skin smoothing tools.
‘Real’ is perfect.
What should we wear?
Our babies are often photographed in their birthday suit. Older babies can bring an outfit or two but we’ll play it by ear as most babies are not very keen on getting changed.
We recommend plain, simple clothing for mum and dad that is comfortable and flattering. Please avoid large checks, spots, stripes and logos as these are a distraction in your images.
Light colours work beautifully, with everyone in the same tonal range.
Have a look through my galleries for ideas, or feel free to bring a selection with you. You can always give me a buzz and talk through your ideas if you are unsure.
Our studio has a client wardrobe available for us for all clients, free of charge of course. You can find the Studio Wardrobe here.
What should I expect?
We will take it easy and be guided by your child/ren. Our style is natural and unforced. A lot of my images are about the connection between you and your children, not about everybody looking at the camera and smiling.
Enjoy. This is your time to just ‘be’ with your family. Celebrate your love for them. Breathe them in. They will never be this small again.
Where is your studio?
144-146 Sringbank Road, Torrens Park (corner of Belair and Springbank Roads) Our studio is in a group of funky old shops which have been here for a million years. There is plenty of parking directly out the front, or a little further down Springbank Road on the left.
Do we have to be photographed in studio? We like the great outdoors!
No! Of course not. Whilst the vast majority of my newborn and baby sessions are conducted in studio, once your littlest person finds their feet, all they want to do is run and discover. Let’s head to our fave forest & field location near Blackwood, or just stay in your beautiful home where your children feel the most comfortable.
What do we bring to a studio session?
As little or as much as you like. A nice toy that your child likes, as well as a few changes of nappies. If you would like a special wrap or clothing featured in your session please bring that along also.
If you are opting for a newborn session with older siblings involved, it is great to have a friend or relative available to collect the older child/ren while photographs of the little one are happening. We have toys on hand but the studio tends to get a little boring for busy little people.
What do we bring to a location session?
This depends on the ages of the children involved, but bringing a not-too-messy snack to keep rumbly tummies at bay is a good idea as well as a drink and some nappies and wipes. Feel free to bring a few changes of clothes as little ones can get dirty pretty quickly!
What happens after the session?
Most of our sessions produce between 30-60 images (depending how many family members are involved) and we choose a favourite to pop onto our blog as a ‘teaser’ so you can view something within only a few days of your session.
Usually within a fortnight your gallery will be ready for viewing and we’ll make a time with you for your design and ordering appointment.
What is a design and ordering appointment?
Design and ordering appointment are held in the comfort of our studio where you’ll view your fully edited gallery of images.
We then chat about your ideas for your imagery and go through my print and product guide in more detail. As the name suggests, this is your time to select the prints and products you would like from your session, so it is really important that all decision makers are present.
If you would like a full copy of my print and product guide, please just head HERE.
How long do prints and product take?
Depending on the products selected they can take up to 4-6 weeks, but we do our absolute best to get them to you as soon as possible.
In most cases if a package is purchased which includes the digital files, we are able to provide you with a private online gallery for you to view, share and download your images within 24 hours of your Image Selection Session.
Our products are selected from suppliers both nationally and internationally and we never want to rush the process of design. Quality takes time.
Just give the studio a call on 0419 809 570 and we’ll find a convenient time, date and location for your session. You can also email us at hello[@]kateandco.com.au.
The session fee is due at the time of booking to secure your date.
We look forward to creating something special for your family.
